Providers

Tulu Switch abstracts multiple payment providers behind a single API. Each channel is backed by one or more providers. In most cases, Tulu Switch routes to the best available provider automatically. You can also pin a specific provider on a per-request basis when needed.

Automatic Routing

For the WALLET channel, Tulu Switch uses a smart routing algorithm to select the optimal provider for each transaction. The algorithm considers:

  • Reliability — provider success rate over recent transactions (weighted 70%)
  • Latency — average response time (weighted 30%)
  • Liquidity — whether the provider pool has sufficient funds for the requested currency
  • Circuit breaker — providers with a success rate below 80% (over at least 10 transactions) are temporarily excluded and re-evaluated after 30 minutes
If a provider is excluded by the circuit breaker, routing falls back to the next best available provider automatically.

Specifying a Provider

Most endpoints that accept a provider field let you pin a specific provider for that operation. This is optional — omitting it triggers automatic routing.

Prefer automatic routing in production unless you have a specific reason to pin a provider. Pinning bypasses the circuit breaker and liquidity checks.
